✌️🐬 Saving The Dolphins ✌️🐬

So with Serenity at a good stopping point we were back on our Odyssey! But a brief interlude before we jump in….

…because right at this time a quick turn events happened. Laura and I had been toying about maybe purchasing Toyhomes, fixing them up, and re-selling them; hence giving them a second life and hopefully making a little bit of money in the process. I joked around we could start a business “Saving The Dolphins” 🀣

Our gears were turning so hard on this idea we had even left a note card on another Toyhome down the hill from us that had been sitting in someone’s driveway for the summer that just had been asking for some love. (FYI- Nope! Not the same one from one of my first posts, another one!) Whoever owned this one turned out to be wise as well πŸ˜† – because we never heard back from them and it seemed like shortly thereafter signs of work started to show being done on it. Good For Them! πŸ˜‰

So remember my buddy with the Dolphin that had the blown engine?

Here She Is!

Meanwhile he was making plans to leave town in the fall- in November. In fact he was planning on leaving the country at that time. He had tarped over his roof and repaired the leaking issues he was having while he lived in his rig over the course of the summer.

We had discussed either buying his Dolphin from him in November or finding it a new home where someone would give it the proper second life it deserved.

But due to an emergency occurrence in circumstances- he ended up having to coordinate leave town within a week of when he got the bad news, and this was in Mid-August! (Nothing shady- but I am not going into further details because that’s his business and not my place to publicly share 🀫)

So it was time to commit. I gave him the go-ahead and within a couple of days she was parked in our driveway! Then it was back to regularly planned business… Get that Odyssey Painted! After that it would be okay to move her closer to the trees for the rest of the project, and Laura could reclaim her view of our yard. 😜 I can’t blame her- our yard gets some pretty neat activity… naturally! πŸ˜‰

From Cranes…
…To Moose…
…To Mallards…
..To The Bear Necessities!

So we all worked together to get the camper covered in it’s final coat of Gaco Grey.

It’s About Time!

So it was at this time that RJ finally settled on a name for her rig. We had been pin-ponging back and forth ideas, but they were all based around Odysseus and the story of The Odyssey. One of the concept names I had tossed out was The Ithaca- Odysseus’s home.

Sister-Ships!

After some more deliberation and thought- RJ decided she liked the name! That is when The Odyssey officially became what she is today- The Ithaca! With the camper mostly finished, we could now move the rigs in a more proper place for easier and more organized storage in our driveway. 😁

Meet The Ithaca!
