On Day 22- We awoke to a warm and pleasant morning; the sunshine beaming down over the rest area. βοΈ That morning while perusing Facebook I found an add for a sister ship to Our Ohana for sale. It looked in rough shape- I hope someone out there can restore her and give her a new life… π°
After a bit of a morning wake up we were headed towards Bend to visit my friend Jenny Crosby.
As we reached the Bend area we noticed that the drivers became a lot more erratic and dangerous. π¬
Eventually we did arrive in Bend in one piece, where we pursued a dump and fill station. We ended up finding a Chevron located right next to the last existing Blockbuster Video.
We parked and ate lunch at a nice and lush park right in town, and then headed over to Planet Fitness for a good workout πͺ and a shower. By that time Jenny was almost off work, and she lived just a little out of Bend in Redmond. We decided to hit a Home Depot on the way to her house, and Laura stocked up on some more plants for the rooftop greenhouse. π»
Eventually we arrived in Redmond at Jenny’s house, where she had a perfect spot for us to park for the next few days. We spent the evening catching up on things and getting a little bit of R&R.
Day 23- We began our day after coffee by chasing our hot water heater problem. This definitely took the morning up- but in the end we were successful! The control board had been reading a low voltage code, so after chasing the wiring back we found the problem- the ground connection for the water heater to the busbar had came loose. After reconnecting all of our test locations and tightening down our ground connection we had hot water again!
We ran some errands throughout the rest of the day, but the big event was that evening when Jenny got off of work. Jenny had kindly got us tickets to a Tenacious D concert that was happening in Bend; and before we knew it we were headed to the concert!
When we arrived the parking area was already packed, with people floating the river alongside the venue so they could enjoy the show on the free.
Inside we wandered our way to our seats- where the opening act was Puddles Pity Party! Keep in mind that Tenacious D is a comedy metal group led by comedian and actor Jack Black- so the opening act was also the perfect tongue and cheek performance to warm up the audience. Puddles dresses up as a depressed clown and does modified cover songs, often performing with Postmodern Jukebox.
We had a little bit of an idea of what we were getting into with Puddle’s act- but in the end we really enjoyed it! Here are some videos I clipped together of his songs so you can see some of his act. If you don’t watch them all I totally get it, but you should at least check out his version of Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” π€£
After Puddles we wandered around for a bit and grabbed some food.
(Jack Black’s Character From The Movie)
We arrived back to our seats just in time as Tenacious D came out. I had debated on sharing these videos due to Tenacious D’s raunchy content; but decided to go ahead and share the videos anyway.
Instead I am stating, right here and now, that this is adult language and content in these songs- so watcher be aware of what your getting into when watching the Tenacious D videos. Most are just clips for you to check out, but some are the whole acts as well. Remember it’s all a big comedy act along with a whole lot of metal.
Overall both acts were amazing! We felt super special and super spoiled we had gotten to go enjoy this show with Jenny! Thank You So Much Jenny!
It was a very memorable stay that we will have a lot of smiles and memories to look back on from this one!
