Fast And Furiously Falling In Love… πŸ’“ And Into Winter ⛓️

So when we hit our town we had a few things to take care of. I tried to coordinate with Nick but it was going to have to wait- he was still in Vegas and wasn’t going to be back for a little while. So I was going to have to play the waiting game there. πŸ˜“β° It ended up being okay though- it took me a week to secure the financing anyway- but that financing was contingent on the mechanical inspection results, so we were really going to have to wait. I kept the seller updated, and every day I kept working on getting all this ready. With these few weeks on a pause, it was time to finish buttoning up for winter- which meant it was finally time to drive The Ithaca to RJ’s!

The Ithaca Is Ready!

We made sure all of the loose items inside of The Ithaca were suitably stored for travel, and we were off. A quick trip across town and we were backing her behind RJ’s house onto blocks. And with that parking-that is where The Ithaca has been since. RJ has continued work on her, which I will update you on in later posts. 😁

Meanwhile I decided to look further into the Kimberly Wood Stove…. and was immediately caught by surprise. We had looked at the website before- but this time I was looking on YouTube- and low and behold the first video that popped up was made by the seller. It appeared he really liked his wood stove- even to the point where he made a video that seemed like he wanted to represent for the company. That’s cool though- to me it showed he believed in the product, and the reviews online backed that up. As I looked a little further, I found additional videos- one of him installing the wood stove in the 4×4 Odyssey with it’s creator, and one with him doing a repair in the passenger side bed area above the cab. I was pretty stoked to find a little history on the RV! 😁 I didn’t know I was just dipping my toe in the waters, because after I finished watching the videos with Laura I clicked on a link below. Then Fine Ladies And Sirs, is when I started truly geeking out! 🀯

The link took me to his blog- in this is when my jaw hit the floor. Realization rocked me to my very core- I knew this rig. This was the same blog I followed about The 4×4 Unicorn πŸ¦„!!! Not just another one- THE EXACT SAME ONE!!! Remember at the beginning, when I told you I had researched and followed a blog about a 4×4 ToyHome??? I couldn’t believe it! I also couldn’t believe I hadn’t recognized it until now. With this I was able to plunge into some history about her. I searched and searched, finding the original listing out of California in 2011. You could see the definite comparison of what this last owner had done to the rig!

2019

So I was able to see her history- how cool! It looked like he had owned it from 2012 to current. He lived in it for a span of around 5 years- at one point with his girlfriend and his dog. It looked like he had wanted to buy property in his travels. It had been to Burning Man and back… it had been well used.

Overall though- it seemed like he legitimately had loved her. According to him, he had already but $45,000+ into the rig- which after finding the original asking price I could believe. I had originally been worried about leaks when I first saw the condition of the camper itself- but he had re-assured us that he had parked it on an incline and there was no problems. That would be the plan- we would do the same until next spring- where we would Gaco treat the whole camper and she would be golden! I couldn’t believe we might actually own The Unicorn!!! 😲😡πŸ€ͺ😁

So I had plenty to chew on until we could get the mechanical inspection done the next week. We spent that week to make sure Serenity was nice and clean for listing her- and we took interior photos. It was an amazing reminder of how we had put our blood, sweat, tears, smiles, laughs, and dreams into every inch of her.

And then we played the waiting game…
