The Whirlwind (Part I?), But Seriously… It Will All Come Together πŸ˜‰

So Kalcifer was back in place, and thus we were inspired to get in the process of putting things back together. We were not sure yet about one aspect of our living layout yet though…

A Picture From Last October

We had this nice, big, and super comfy captains chair chilling on the other side of the entry door. I was tempted to keep it, but Laura thought we could make better use of the space. Minus shoving a broom or something behind the chair, it really did take up the whole footprint of the area it sat in. I decided to give it a look-see, and at least take it out. I mean, I had to really anyway to get the carpet out from around it. So out came the chair!

First thing I noticed; the chair was HEAVY! It was really well built. The framing and base for the whole thing was built out of steel.

I had already been on the fence about getting rid of it, but this started to strongly sway replacing the chair. Laura advocated to build the space into a box, where you could remove the cushion and open the top. After some brain storming we decided we would build a sitting cushion and back rest, held up with velcro if necessary, and we would build the door so it opened up from the side. So I started cleaning up the area. Remember how I said this was going to be a whirlwind in the title?

Next I found a left over LED from Serenity and popped it in the dome light in the cab.

Well, then at this point I switched gears and started working on re-finishing the countertops.

They were pretty rough, and after a lot of thought and deliberation I decided I was going to re-finish them in metal. I had found a great deal on metal siding I could order through Spenard Builder’s Supply, so I could use up what I had and then order more if needed. So Laura and I suited up in our safety gear and got to work!

We were pretty exited on how the countertops were turning out! It was a huge difference from the beat up laminate before.

And with that, we were about out of time! The Ohana was finally going to the shop to have her front shocks replaced, in which we had agreed on a set of new Ranchos. So we snapped a few picks so we could start formulating our plans for the cabinets. And Awe Heck! I was going to save this pictures for next post- but I’ll share them this time. πŸ˜‰

To Repurpose The Gold Trim, Or Not?

Here is the picture my neighborhood friendly local Redline ninja sent me while it was on the lift! We placed an order for the new Rancho shocks and determined she would need a new power steering gear box eventually.

‘Till Next Time- Hope You Are Having A Wonderful Summer!
